Laura Linney is an American actor who has become famous for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. Born to a famous playwright's father, and being raised by a single mother who made a living as a nurse, she began to take an interest in theater while having summers spent with her father then pursuing acting studies, first as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. After just two short years following graduation the actress began her Broadway career. Following that, she made her debut on TV and film. She has appeared on numerous stages, films and television programs since. Her achievements have been numerous throughout her career including the four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Despite her numerous nominations, she has a passion for theatre and has appeared on both screen and stage.
