A baby was strapped to my back, while the other crawled in the playpen. I stayed up all night days over months of sanding, and taking wallpaper off, all while carrying one kid. Ha! The house was starting to look nice, but there were still many things that needed to be left. The house would need lots of time and a love to shop. To keep within budget, I began taking my kids to estate sales in search of diamonds. Each week we would spend Thursday to Saturday at estate sales and garage sales buying brand new furniture. Then I repainted and smoothed in the driveway throughout the week. The furniture I found looked like... that's when my passion to restore furniture began. Once our home was furnished, I still couldn't quit! I had a space on the local market, and also sold items there. My collection eventually grew so large that the room that I was living in was not enough. I hosted open houses at my residence where 1 thousand people would visit over a weekend, and the visitors were able to purchase items on the first floor. This is where my business Growing Days was born. Apart from my successful business, I also grew our family. Finding the balance was important for me. I wished to be a mom as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days just fit. It was in 2013 when my beautiful daughter Nora was born. She is our fourth child. My business's direction was excellent, however I had to get some down time. I took a break from creating vintage furniture and slowed down my pace to be at home to help my children. This was precisely what I needed. But after a short time, my phone began to ring. Many people called me for help about home improvement or decorating. These people had mostly attended my house during the open houses that were held for furniture. It wasn't long before I had a fully-fledged business for home improvement. I began by taking clients on one with a speed I felt confident in. Most likely, I would have laughed if I had been told that the business was going to be the basis for an upcoming television show in the DIY Network. When I look back, it still makes me smile.
