Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. When she reached nine years old, her family resided in Louisiana in which she had won the regional talent contest by singing the cover of Patsy's "I I Want to be a Cowboy's Lover. Decker moved to Georgia in the year fifteen. She was beginning to compose songs and was regularly making visits to Nashville and was visiting record companies and music publishers looking for deals. She was 17 when she met a representative from the independent label Big Yellow Dog Records who began selling her tracks to labels and artists. The moment Mercury Records president David Massey was introduced to Decker's work, he passed the tracks to L.A. Reid head of the subsidiary Island/Def Jam label group and Reid signed her to an agreement with a record label. At the end of August, 2009 she launched her self-titled debut album under the moniker Jessie James. Jessie James had a moderately popular debut record. Wanted, a song of the album, reached the Top 40 singles chart. Decker was always viewed as a singer from the country genre, but the album's marketing and production was geared towards a more pop-oriented audience. Following two singles from the album stiffed Decker was battling with labels executives to gain more control of her music. her next single Boys in the Summer was a more country-oriented release. Decker's sophomore album, released with the name Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records was pulled because Mercury saw the poor performance of three of Decker's singles on the charts of country radio.
